For a comfortable, effective, and productive home setup, you’re going to need a few office essentials.
With more of us working from home, it can get hard to be productive if we don’t have a proper setup.
There are plenty of amazing products on the market to take your home office to the next level.
Office Essentials When You Work From Home
1. Standing Adjustable Table
Arguably the most important thing to an office setup is a desk.
Your choice of a desk is very important, a good sturdy table will last you a long time and make working so much easier.
Sitting for long periods of time has been said to have negative effects on your health, so having an adjustable table will make it so you can stand up and stretch your legs without having to stop working.
This is one that will last you longer, but there are more options that are more affordable.
2. Ergonomic Desk Chair With Lumbar Support
To sit in front of your desk, you’ll need a comfortable and ergonomic office chair.
While you can opt for a more cost-effective option, it’s worth investing in a quality chair to protect your back and prevent long-term injury as well as avoid buying multiple chairs over time.
Before you make a purchase, consider testing a few chairs to find out what you like and need.
3. A Good Laptop
When it comes to your home computer, a laptop gives you much greater flexibility than a stationary desktop.
Laptops allow you to change your work environment whenever you need to as well as allow you to take your work with you wherever you go.
By choosing a laptop, you can also take it with you on your travels to work remotely if you want.
A laptop is a long-term investment. Make sure you fully understand your needs, before you make a purchase.
4. Laptop Stand
If you use a laptop at home, a laptop stand is important to prop up your laptop on your desk.
It is affordable and can help you see the screen at a more comfortable angle, allowing for good posture. You’ll need a wireless keyboard with this option.
5. A Wireless Keyboard
You’ll need a wireless keyboard if you opt for a desktop computer or a laptop and want a more ergonomic option for typing.
A comfortable keyboard is essential for remote work productivity. Make sure it’s easy to use and comfortable overall. You may also consider using one that has a curvature and is more ergonomic.
6. Lap Desk
If you don’t have a designated area for your desk, or you plan to work from different areas of your home for a change of scenery, consider a portable laptop support table that’s adjustable and can easily move with you.
I like these for lazy days when I want to get some work done but just can’t seem to get out of bed.
7. Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Headphones are great for when you’re working from home, especially noise-canceling headphones.
Noise-canceling headphones are great for moms who work from home, or for days when you want to go work in a cafe but still want some silence.
8. Adequate Lighting
if you don’t have adequate natural lighting, you may need a desk lamp or task lighting to help you work and avoid straining your eyes.
Consider purchasing LED bulbs for your desk lamp to prevent eye strain and headaches.
If your workstation doesn’t have good lighting you might want to purchase a full-spectrum bulb for your office lamp. It will give you a natural bright light to keep your energy level up by reproducing the natural daylight generated by the sun.
9. A Filing Cabinet
Even though you work from home, I doubt you’re entirely digital.
Consider getting a filing cabinet in order to store and file your hard copy materials and be organized.
Opt for this one with a lock if you have a more communal office setup and there are kids that could play with important documents.
10. Stationery
-Paper
-Pens & Pencils
-Highlighters
-Notebook and journal
-Post-it notes and sticky notes
-Binders & Folders
-Stapler, Staples & Staple remover
-Scissors
-Paperclips
-Document sorter/holder
Make sure to keep your stationery close and accessible on your table to avoid having to get up and stop your flow of work.
