How To Create Your Own Spa Day Party At Home

Step 1: Set the Scene for Your Pamper Day

how to throw a spa party on a budget

Invitations: Send out stylish invitations to invite your friends to the perfect spa day. You can opt for elegant paper invites or go digital for convenience.

Decor: Create a tranquil atmosphere with calming colors, soft lighting, and soothing décor elements like candles, fairy lights, and plush cushions, which make it feel like a luxurious spa.

Ambiance: Play soothing classical music or nature sounds to enhance the home spa session for you and your friends. Consider diffusing essential oils for a soothing smell.

Creating the perfect spa-like atmosphere is crucial for setting the scene for a relaxing at-home spa experience. These home spa day ideas can transform your space into a tranquil oasis that will transport your guests to a world of serenity:

Choose the Right Space: Select a comfortable and spacious area for your spa day party. It could be your living room, outdoor patio, or a dedicated room. Ensure there’s enough room for treatment stations, lounging, and socializing, consider using a different room for this.

Calming Color Palette: Opt for soft, calming colors such as pastels, neutrals, and muted tones. These hues promote relaxation and create a serene ambiance.

Aromatherapy: Infuse the air with calming scents by using an essential oil diffuser or scented candles. Choose aromas like lavender, chamomile, eucalyptus, or citrus to enhance relaxation.

Comfortable Seating: Provide plush cushions, throw pillows, and cozy blankets to create comfortable seating areas where guests can relax and chat.

Natural Elements: Incorporate elements of nature, such as potted plants, flowers, or even a small indoor fountain, to bring a sense of tranquility to the space.

Towels and Robes: Set out fluffy towels and comfortable robes for your guests to use during treatments and to create a spa-like feel.

DiY Spa Treatments: Designate different areas for facial treatments like DIY face masks and the use of facial steamers, manicures, pedicures, and foot massages. Arrange each station with the necessary supplies, products, and comfortable seating.

Beverage Station: Create a hydration station with infused water, herbal teas, and refreshing mocktails. Provide elegant glassware or mugs for guests to enjoy their drinks. Also consider putting out healthy snacks.

Spa Bingo: Create bingo cards with spa-related words or images. As guests enjoy their spa treatments, they can mark off items on their bingo cards. The first person to complete a line or pattern wins a prize.

Guided Meditation: Play a recorded guided meditation or lead a session yourself. This game promotes relaxation and mindfulness, enhancing the spa experience.

Name that Mask: Prepare different facial masks and label them with creative names. Have guests apply the masks and try to match the mask with its correct name. Provide a small prize for those who guess the most correctly.

Spa-Themed Charades: Write down spa-related activities or treatments on slips of paper and place them in a bowl. Guests take turns drawing a slip and acting out the activity without speaking, while others guess what it is.

Pamper Pictionary: Set up a game of Pictionary using spa-related words or phrases. Divide guests into teams and have them take turns drawing and guessing.

Remember, the goal is to keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable, so choose games that encourage laughter, interaction, and a sense of camaraderie among your guests. These spa-themed games will add a delightful touch to your spa day party and ensure a memorable and fun-filled experience for everyone involved.

Step 4: Party Favors

Sending your guests home with thoughtful and spa-inspired party favors is a wonderful way to extend the relaxation and pampering experience.

Here are some creative and luxurious party favor ideas for your spa day party:

Mini Bath Salt Jars: Fill small glass jars with homemade or store-bought bath salts in calming scents. Tie a ribbon and a personalized tag around the jar for a stylish touch.

Scented Candles: Give each guest a mini-scented candle with a relaxing aroma, like lavender, chamomile, or vanilla.

Miniature Essential Oils: Provide small bottles of essential oils that guests can use for aromatherapy at home. Include a card with suggestions for different uses.

Lip Balm Set: Gift a set of natural or tinted lip balms for soft and moisturized lips.

Nail Polish: Choose a selection of nail polish colors and give each guest a bottle to add a pop of color to their nails.

Hair Accessories: Include hair ties, clips, or headbands for a stylish and practical party favor.

Miniature Skin Care Products: Offer travel-sized moisturizers, cleansers, or serums for guests to continue their skincare routine at home.

Relaxation Journal: Provide small notebooks where guests can jot down their thoughts, self-care routines, or gratitude reflections.

Plant or Succulent: Gift a small potted plant or succulent for a touch of nature and greenery.

Soothing Eye Masks: Provide gel or fabric eye masks that can be chilled and used to relieve tired eyes.

Aromatherapy Rollerballs: Create rollerballs with calming essential oil blends for stress relief on the go.

Customized Tote Bags: Design tote bags with a spa-themed motif, and fill them with a selection of party favors.

Don’t forget to add a personalized thank-you note or tag to each party favor to express your appreciation for your guests’ attendance.

These party favors will not only be a delightful memento of the spa day party but also a reminder of the relaxation and self-care they enjoyed during the event.

Step 5: Capture the Memories

Designate a photo corner with spa-themed props for fun photo opportunities. Encourage guests to capture their relaxing moments and memories from the spa day party.

Remember, the most important aspect of your spa day party is to relax, unwind, and enjoy the company of your friends. Embrace the tranquility and pampering, and let the stresses of everyday life melt away as you bond over a shared experience of indulgence.

How To Work From Home, Stay Productive And Be Super Organized

Filed Under: Organization, Work From Home //

11 tips for working from home and staying productive

The most significant advantage of working from home is the additional flexibility.

However, this luxury can frequently become a squandered opportunity if not handled wisely. Keeping this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of crucial work-from-home techniques you can implement at home.

Most people believe that productivity has been lost as a result of the convenience that remote work affords.

11 Tips for Staying Productive When Working From Home

While remote work can be entertaining, it can often be stressful and unproductive. Here are some solutions to make your more organized and productive.

Designate Your Own Workspace

Though it may be tempting to work from your bed or couch, attempt to establish something more formal.

Perhaps you have a makeshift workspace in the dining room, or you have a dedicated desk or office area in your house.

Ideally, your workplace should have a door to block out any distractions, and it should be filled with all the supplies and equipment you might need nearby, such as a computer, printer, paper, headphones, and so on.

You’ll want to avoid getting up frequently to fetch items you might need, as this will simply reduce your productivity.

Maintain a clutter-free workspace and create a strategy for organizing crucial files and paperwork.

If you have the space, you can be creative with your storage solutions, or you can utilize standard manila folders to divide distinct business materials.

Whatever way you use, staying consistent with your approach is critical for developing efficient organizing habits.

Have Office Hours

Set precise hours for when you’ll be available by phone, email, or online and working if your employer allows it.

Professional work is crucial, but so is taking time to unwind, appreciate your loved ones, and simply relax. Check that you’re setting fair boundaries on both a professional and personal level.

Working from home may give you the sense that you have a better work-life balance, but be cautious.
Instead of coworkers reminding you to pack up and leave the workplace, set an alarm at the end of the day to indicate that your typical workday is coming to an end.

You don’t have to stop at that exact hour, but knowing that the workday is technically done can help you begin the process of saving your work and calling it a night.

Get Ready for Your WorkDay

What is your go-to attire for working from home?

Is it your pajamas? If you answered yes, I am not passing judgment on you. It’s the perfect work-from-home outfit for being comfortable while getting things done. And dressing up is something that most people ignore when working from home.

That, however, is not how it should be.

You must prepare for work as you normally would. Casual clothes or pajamas are ideal for providing comfort and a sense of independence, which may not help you stay productive.

While it is not necessary to dress as formally as you would for work, merely changing your clothes signals that it is time to wake up and get to work.

Our brains are wired in such a way that it receives signals from our social and personal outlook while making a decision. When you dress up for work, you offer your brain a reason to do so. It acts as a natural alarm, keeping you aware throughout the day.

Furthermore, working from home does not preclude people from seeing you. You may be invited to attend virtual meetings, which are becoming increasingly popular.

Start Early In The Day

It’s tempting to want to sleep in when you don’t have to dash out the door to get to work.

However, if you’re having trouble remaining productive, getting up early is sometimes an excellent solution. Set an alarm for about an hour before your spouse or children wake up.

Set your alarm and go through your normal morning habits like you would if you were going into the office. When you get ready for the day, it can signal you to transition your home environment into your workspace.

Make a cup of your favorite morning coffee and get to work on your emails or a heavier assignment. When the house is quiet, you’ll be astonished at how much you can get done.

Take Breaks

You can only labor so much. If you truly want to be productive, take regular breaks to allow your mind (and body) to recharge. Take a few minutes every hour or so to stand, refill your water, or take a short walk.

Take longer pauses a few times a day to let your mind rest.

Spend 20 minutes playing with your children, going on a stroll with your partner or pet, or checking in on your parents. Take a break from work to replenish your batteries.

Eliminate Digital Distractions

You generally don’t check social media too often at work, but it is frequently acceptable when working from home.

Unfortunately, it’s all too easy to get lost in the rabbit hole. One glance at Instagram and you’ve already lost an hour of work time.

To keep these digital distractions from taking over your life, do everything you can to eradicate them completely. Remove all social media platforms from your bookmarks and log out of all accounts.

For example, if you can’t enter your living room without turning on the TV, work in another room or part of your house. Removing distractions from your environment is critical for maintaining focus on your task, which might affect your productivity.

When you’re trying to work, turn off all alerts and notifications and keep your phone in the bedroom. After you’ve finished your work for the day, save social media apps for the evening.

Set Daily And Weekly Goals

Spend a few minutes each day planning out your work objectives. Use these daily goals to build up to a larger weekly goal that will help you with your tasks and assignments.

Learn how to differentiate the most important jobs from the less important ones. Use a chart to help you prioritize your objectives based on their importance so you can meet deadlines and stay productive even as your workload grows.

How To Reclaim Your Day & Be Productive With The Power of Time Blocking

time blocking

Are you constantly juggling an ever-growing to-do list, overwhelmed by the demands of a busy life? Do you wish for more “me time” but find it elusive?

If you can relate, you’re not alone. As women, we often feel the relentless pressure to excel in various roles, from managing careers to orchestrating our homes and much more.

The list seems endless. But fear not, because I’ve discovered a game-changing technique that allows me to single-task effectively while boosting productivity and allowing me to be more organized and effective: Time Blocking.

Related Post: How To Set New Years Resolutions

What Is Time Blocking

Time blocking is the practice of dividing your day into designated time slots and assigning tasks to each of these slots, ensuring that every moment is accounted for.

Time Blocking is a skillful approach to organization.

It involves dedicating specific time blocks to accomplish tasks, ensuring that no minute goes unallocated.

I find it essential to intersperse my time blocks with scheduled ‘comfort breaks.’

These intervals are where I prioritize coffee breaks, take time to stretch my legs, and, most importantly, step away from work for 30 minutes at regular intervals throughout the day, this is especially useful when you work from home.

This practice is vital in preventing burnout and maintaining productivity.

Each time block is dedicated to a specific task, leaving no room for distractions or procrastination.

I’ve come to realize that if I have unallocated time, it becomes a breeding ground for distractions, and I catch myself thinking, “I can do that later.” It’s crucial to resist this trap; the moment for action is now!

Below, you’ll find an example of a fully time-blocked week.

Time blocking

Why Use Time Blocking Method

Let’s face it; there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to productivity.

It’s not for everyone, but it does work wonders for me, especially in combating my chronic procrastination habits.

However, by proactively planning my day and allotting specific time blocks for tasks, I manage to maintain my momentum and stay motivated.

Moreover, this method can be an effective strategy for carving out more “me time” or quality family time, ensuring I meet work deadlines and leave the office promptly at 5 p.m.

Time blocking can be applied to a wide range of tasks, not just household chores and getting work done.

I’ve incorporated it into my blogging routine, using it for brainstorming new ideas and writing blog posts.

Whether it’s cleaning out the fridge, making dinner, or organizing paperwork, time blocking can help you tackle those tasks more efficiently.

Block out at least 30 minutes for something you love, such as reading, gardening, taking a walk, or indulging in your favorite hobby.

Let your loved ones know that this time is off-limits, and if necessary, leave your home to ensure you get the personal time you deserve.

Tips For Time Blocking

Starting time blocking can be a transformative way to manage your time and boost productivity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started.

Set Clear Goals:

Before you begin time blocking, it’s essential to have a clear sense of your goals and priorities.

Determine what you want to accomplish in a given day or week.

Knowing your objectives will guide your time-blocking efforts effectively.

Select a Time-Blocking Tool:

Choose a tool that suits your preferences and needs. This can be a physical planner, a digital calendar, or specialized time-blocking apps.

The right tool will make the process more convenient for you.

Identify Your Time Blocks:

Divide your day into distinct time blocks.

Common time block durations are 30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours, but feel free to adjust these based on your tasks and personal preferences.

These don’t have to be the same each day, you should adjust each day to what works for you best.

Allocate Time for Your Most Important Tasks:

Start by allocating time blocks to your most critical tasks or priorities.

Addressing these first ensures that you tackle your most significant responsibilities when your energy and focus levels are at their peak.

Avoid Overloading:

Be realistic about how much you can accomplish in a specific time block.

It’s important to avoid the temptation of overloading your schedule, which can lead to stress and disappointment.

Include Breaks:

Don’t forget to include short breaks between your time blocks.

These breaks are essential for rejuvenation and maintaining focus throughout the day.

Stay Flexible:

While time blocking provides structure, it’s important to remain flexible.

Unexpected events can occur, so be prepared to adjust your schedule as necessary.

Eliminate Distractions:

During your time blocks, take steps to minimize distractions.

Turn off unnecessary notifications, find a quiet workspace, and inform others that you are in a focused work period.

Review and Adjust:

At the end of the day or week, take some time to review how well your time-blocking strategy worked.

Did you accomplish your goals?

Based on your experience, make any necessary adjustments to your schedule for the next day or week.

Time blocking is a personalized process, and it may take some time to fine-tune your approach.

Experiment with different time block durations, styles, and tools until you find what works best for you.

Be Consistent:

Consistency is key to the success of time blocking. Stick to your schedule and continually refine your time-blocking skills for better results.

Stay patient, adapt as you go, and keep refining your approach until you find a time-blocking strategy that helps you achieve your goals effectively.

Time blocking is my secret weapon for crossing items off my to-do list and maintaining a sense of balance in my life.

It provides a comforting sense of control when life seems chaotic. I hope these insights will be a valuable tool for you, helping you navigate the whirlwind of daily responsibilities.

How To Get Rid Of Product Buildup On Your Scalp Health

If you’re anything like me, you probably keep protective styles in for longer than you have to.

This also means that you probably go a month or two without washing your hair. Ever feel like you need to remove months of product build-up from your scalp but just feel like your regular shampoo isn’t quite cutting it?

That’s why I created a complete guide on how to get rid of product buildup on your scalp!

While our hair may be tucked away in a protective style, or stowed under a wig, we still need to make sure we are keeping our scalp happy and healthy!

I hate when I have an itchy scalp and I go to scratch it and it begins to snow old product.

Let’s deep dive into the world of scalp care together, making sure your scalp is healthy and clean is the only way to have healthy hair growth.

What Is Product Buildup?

Product buildup happens when the products you love to use accumulates on the hair near the scalp.

Even some of the shampoos and conditioners we love so much can leave product behind on our scalp! Especially when not rinsed out properly during your showers.

You can also tell if you have product buildup when you have a white cast on your hair closest to the scalp. The buildup is especially bad near the hairline. This is caused by wig glue and edge control mostly.

Your regular washday routine isn’t enough to fix or get rid of product buildup. While it may look like it gets rid of all the buildup, your scalp wont be thoroughly clean unless you truly clarify it.

Getting Rid Of Product Buildup With Clarifying Shampoo

A clarifying shampoo is an absolute necessity for every natural to have!

A clarifying shampoo is like your regular shampoo, times ten. They can cut through oils and products leaving your scalp squeaky clean!

Don’t plan on using a clarifying shampoo every day, this will cause your hair to be dry. Typically, only use it when you feel like you need it or after you haven’t washed your hair in a while!

Here are some of my favorite clarifying shampoos:

Kristin Ess Hair Deep Clean Clarifying Shampoo

The Kristin Ess Hair Deep Clean Clarifying Shampoo is an ideal choice for removing build-up due to its powerful yet gentle formula.

It effectively cleanses the hair, removing excess oils, product residues, and impurities, leaving your hair refreshed, revitalized, and ready for styling.

Getting Rid Of Product Buildup With Home Remedies

If you want to go the more natural route, there are several home remedies that can be used to remove product buildup from hair. Some that I have tried and love are:

Apple Cider Vinegar For Product Buildup

Apple Cider Vinegar is a great way to get rid of product buildup on your scalp.

To use apple cider vinegar for product buildup, you can mix equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

Spray the mixture onto your hair and scalp, focusing on the roots and areas with the most buildup. Massage it into your scalp and leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse it out thoroughly.

Now continue with your regular washday routine.

The acidity in the vinegar helps to break down and dissolve buildup, leaving your hair looking and feeling clean and refreshed.

It’s important to note that apple cider vinegar can be drying for some hair types, so you may want to use a moisturizing conditioner afterward as well as a good deep conditioner.

Baking Soda For Product Buildup

Baking soda is another popular home remedy for removing product buildup from hair.

It is a gentle abrasive that can effectively break down and remove buildup, leaving your hair looking and feeling clean and refreshed.

To use baking soda for product buildup, you can mix a small amount of baking soda with water to create a paste.

Massage the paste into your hair, focusing on the roots and scalp. Leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it out thoroughly.

Alternatively, you can add a tablespoon of baking soda to your shampoo and wash your hair as usual.

It’s important to note that baking soda can be drying for some hair types, so you may want to use a moisturizing conditioner after using it.

Also, it’s best to use baking soda in moderation, as using it too often can strip your hair of its natural oils.

It’s also important to do a patch test before applying it to your hair as it can cause irritation or dryness for some people.

Lemon Juice For Product Buildup

The acidity in the lemon juice helps to break down and dissolve buildup, leaving your hair looking and feeling clean and refreshed.

To use lemon juice for product buildup, you can mix equal parts lemon juice and water in a spray bottle.

Spray the mixture onto your hair and scalp, focusing on the roots and areas with the most buildup. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse it out thoroughly.

You can also use it as a final rinse after shampooing.

Alternatively, you can mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a cup of water and use it as a final rinse after shampooing.

There are several ways to remove product buildup from hair, such as apple cider vinegar, clarifying shampoo, baking soda, and lemon juice.

These are all effective in breaking down and dissolving buildup, leaving your hair looking and feeling clean and refreshed.

How To Take The Absolute Best Detox Bath For Ultimate Relaxation

how to take detox bath for relaxation

We not only improve our health and well-being when we take a detox bath, but we also strengthen our defense system.

Baths are wonderful! They’re a quick and simple way to decompress, unwind, and replenish your body after the day’s stress.

A normal bath can be improved into a detox bath with a few boosts from natural ingredients.

Even if you aren’t moving, your body’s pores are constantly interacting with toxins.

Detox baths are one way to sweat out toxins without possibly exposing your body to harmful factors. Sweating is one way to release your body from potentially harmful toxins.

These baths work through a mechanism similar to osmosis.

This means that as the bath’s heated water draws toxins to the skin’s surface, they are then washed away as the water cools.

A detox bath assists with overall bodily process regulation in addition to detoxifying the body of toxins.

While some baths can help control the activity of enzymes, others can help those whose pH levels aren’t optimal with pain relief and the healing process. Some detox baths can aid in reducing bad bodily odor!

What Is A Detox Bath

A detox bath is regarded as a natural way to remove toxins from the body.

Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate), ginger, and essential oils are dissolved in warm water in the bathroom during a detox bath allowing you to relax and treat your body.

Treating a cold is one potential application for a detox bath.

The advantages of detox baths for a cold, however, are not fully supported by research. Detox baths may ease some cold symptoms by relaxing the body and reducing muscle aches, but individual results may differ.

No matter what your reasons are for taking a detox bath, the results will definitely speak for themselves.

What You Need For Your Detox Bath

Simple and readily available materials make up this recipe:

-2 Cups Epsom Salt (Soaking in Epsom salts actually helps replenish the body’s magnesium levels, combating hypertension. The sulfate flushes toxins and helps form proteins in brain tissue and joints.)

-1 Cup Baking Soda (Baking soda is known for its cleansing ability and even has anti-fungal properties, also leaving the skin soft.)

-1 Tablespoon Bentonite Clay

-20 Drops of Essential Oils (There are many oils that will make the bath an even more pleasant and relaxing experience (such as lavender or chamomile), as well as those that will assist in the detoxification process and open up breathing passages (tea tree oil or eucalyptus).

How To Have Your Detox Bath

Step 1: Stay Hydrated

A detoxifying bath is meant to be potent and pull out all kinds of toxins from your body.

Preventing any unintentional harm to your body during the procedure will help, so make sure you’re well-hydrated beforehand.

Step 2: Fill Up Your Bath And Set The Scene

Add as much water as you can bear in the tub, filling it to the brim. This will increase the bath’s ability to remove pollutants.

Also, take this time to turn off the lights, and light candles. Clear your mind, meditate & relax.

Step 3: Add Your Detox Bath Ingredients

There are numerous detox bath remedies available. You are free to choose the ingredients you want to include.

The advantages the water will provide your body will depend on what you choose to add to it.

The majority of detox bath remedies include at least one “harsh” component that actively pulls toxins out of the body.

They include substances like bentonite clay, apple cider vinegar, baking soda, and even hydrogen peroxide that you might not typically consider water additives.

But these harsh ingredients need a soothing substance to balance out this ingredient.

Consider using essential oils for this.

Step 4: Soak In The Detox Bath

However you choose to do your bath, it’s usually advised that you spend at least twenty minutes in your detox bath.

It takes time for the ingredients to take effect on your epidermis. The first twenty minutes are said to help remove the toxins, while the second twenty minutes are for absorbing the minerals in the water.

The longer you soak in your bath the more effective it will be, I do however recommend not staying in your bath for longer than an hour.

Step 5: Dry Off And Hydrate

When your time in the water is up, you should remember that your body has experienced a lot. Get out of the tub slowly and carefully.

Your body has been working hard and you may get lightheaded or feel weak and drained.

Drink plenty of fluids and give your body time to heal. Be gentle with your body in general, but you can brush it down for added detoxification advantages.

Remember: Before adding herbs to your bath, read what their effects are, and, do not take a hot bath or a detox bath if you are pregnant, or have heart, kidney, or any other health issues without consulting your doctor.

Here’s Exactly What to Wear During & After a Spray Tan

should you wear a bra to get a spray tan

What You Wear to a Spray Tan Matters

It’s winter, you’re as pale as can be, you need to book a spray tan appointment ASAP, and wonder, what on earth should I wear for this spray tan?

What you wear to get a spray tan plays a bigger role than you’d think in the quest for a natural-looking tan.

But what do you wear when getting a spray tan? And what do you wear after a spray tan to protect your sunkissed skin?

Tight clothes, like leggings, are your enemy here, they can ruin a freshly applied tan faster than you can say “streaky mess.”

Loose and dark clothing will be your best friends during and after your session.

They help avoid those dreaded tan lines and protect your skin from rubbing the tan off prematurely.

I learned this the hard way, showing up in leggings once and leaving with a less-than-stellar tan.

You don’t want to make the same mistake. Trust me, opting for that baggy t-shirt and loose-fitting shorts will make all the difference.

After the session, the same rules apply. Patience and the right clothes ensure your tan develops into that even, golden hue that makes it look like you just came from vacation.

And here’s a hot tip, ditch the bra during your spray tan. Going without wearing your bra when you go get a spray tan helps avoid unsightly tan lines around your shoulders and back.

Also, hold off on wearing those tight leggings right after your spray tan or anything that clings too much. Giving your skin ample room to breathe and your tan time to set is crucial.

What you wear before, during, and after your spray tan significantly impacts not just your comfort but the quality of your tan. Go for roomy, dark outfits to come out looking and feeling your best.

How To Prepare For A Spray Tan

Getting your skin ready for a spray tan isn’t just about the tan itself; it’s about maximizing the results.

First off, exfoliating is key. Grab a gentle scrub and work away the dead skin.

This smooth canvas helps the tan apply evenly, giving you that flawless glow.

Next up, shower with cold water before your appointment. It sounds chilly, but this step closes your pores, preventing them from getting clogged with tanning solutions.

Now, let’s talk about what to wear.

Loose-fitting clothes are your best friends here.

Tight clothing can rub against your freshly tanned skin, leading to uneven spots or streaks – not what you signed up for.

Also, opt for darker colors. They’re less likely to show any solution that might transfer from your skin.

Remember, your choices in preparing your skin and selecting your outfit can make a huge difference in your tanning experience.

What to Wear to a Spray Tan Session

Walking into a spray tan appointment, you might wonder about the best outfit choice.

Loose clothing takes center stage here.

Tight outfits can lead to uneven lines and streaks, disrupting that flawless tan you’re aiming for. Dark colors are your allies since the tanning solution might stain light fabrics.

It’s a simple choice but crucial for a stress-free session.

As for the burning question, “Do I wear a bra for a spray tan?” the answer leans towards no. Going braless during the session ensures an even tan across your chest, without the risk of unwanted lines.

If not wearing one makes you uneasy, opt for an old, dark one ready to sacrifice for the cause.

Footwear is another detail you can’t overlook. Leave behind those tight sneakers or heels.

Flip-flops serve as the perfect option, keeping your feet comfortable and free from pressure-induced tanning mishaps.

You step into that room, and it’s just you, your flip-flops, and the promise of emerging with a beautifully even tan.

After all, planning what to wear to a spray tan session is about getting the best results while keeping accidents at a minimum.

What to Wear After A Spray Tan Session

You just walked out of your spray tan session, looking like a sun-kissed goddess. The next step? Keeping that glow perfect.

Clothes can make or break a fresh tan.

Did I mention that loose clothing is your best friend? Tight clothes? Not so much.

They rub against your skin, risking your tan. Imagine putting effort into getting that natural-looking tan, only to spoil it by tight jeans or leggings.

Not worth it, right? Opt for oversized shirts, flowy dresses, or anything that doesn’t cling to your body. Your tan will thank you.

Now, about leggings. Can you wear them after a spray tan? Short answer: it’s better not to. Leggings, though comfy, tend to be snug. They can leave marks and, worse, strip your tan off where it’s tightest.

If you must slip into something leg-hugging, wait a day at least. By then, your tan has set, and the risk is lower.

Color choice matters too. Dark colors are the way to go. They’re less likely to show any tan that might rub off.

While you might love your white yoga pants, they’re not the best choice right now. Imagine those turning a lovely shade of bronze—on the outside. Stick to blacks, navies, or deep greens.

Footwear is another crucial choice. Flip-flops or sandals are ideal. They allow your feet to breathe and don’t rub against your ankles or toes.

Even a slight rub can lighten a tan. That’s what we’re avoiding here.

Countless loose, chic options complement your tan. This post-tan period is a great time to experiment with styles you might not usually consider. Flowy doesn’t mean frumpy. It’s all in how you wear it.

Choosing the right clothes after a spray tan isn’t just about maintaining your tan; it’s about comfort too. Tight clothes can feel restrictive on freshly tanned skin.

Looser options feel like a soft hug—a perfect end to your spray tan experience.

7 Red Flags That You Should Run From In Any Relationship

red flags in a relationship

What Are Red Flags In a Relationship

Red flags are warning signs that can hint at unhealthy, toxic, or manipulative behaviors from a spouse.

These are more complicated than simply getting the ick from someone because they don’t wash their dishes right after they eat or chew very loudly. These aren’t just behavioral quirks.

Red flags are things that your partner does that indicate a lack of respect, trust, or integrity toward you and the relationship.

Red flags can be a sign of narcissism, victimization, or even abusive behavior. They can be a good indicator that it may be time to reconsider the person you’re getting involved with and avoid getting mixed up in a toxic relationship.

It can be really hard to identify red flags due to their subtle nature, so I’m here to help.

Red Flags To Look Out For and What They Mean

Although it may be difficult to admit that a relationship may not be perfect or even just healthy, it’s important to accept it when red flags just seem to dominate.

Red Flag 1: Very Controlling Behavior

When someone tries to control your every thought, decision, or even belief, they are putting themselves first and have no regard for you in any way.

You should be able to be free and relaxed around the person you are with and not feel like you’re a prisoner who’s living on a schedule.

Being in a relationship should feel like being in a functioning team. If one person seems to constantly hone all the power and exerts it over the other, this is a major red flag.

Controlling behavior can also manifests as them constantly trying to drive a wedge between you and your friends, family, and even your career.

Red Flag 2: Irrational Lack of Trust

Trust is maybe the most important aspect of a healthy relationship.

If your partner constantly accuses you of lying or being unfaithful when you have given them no reason at all to feel that way can be a sign that they are not trustworthy themself and are simply exuding their insecurities onto you.

The same can also be said if you feel like your partner is hardly honest and suspect they are cheating. If they constantly give you reasons to suspect so.

A healthy functional relationship can only exist with trust from all persons involved.

Red Flag 3: They Break You Down

When you’re around your partner you should feel confident and loved.

If they don’t seem committed to supporting and uplifting you but rather badger you and tear you down, you need something to change immediately.

Your partner shouldn’t make you feel insecure and like you need to change aspects of yourself to better suit them. They shouldn’t lower your self-esteem by gaslighting, using snarky jokes or just being upfront and belittling you.

Red Flag 4: They Are Extremely Selfish

This can be directly related to a sort of narcissistic behavior.

Your partner may act self-obsessed and feel an overly high sense of importance. They put themselves first all the time and hardly consider you when making decisions even when they directly impact you.

They believe that they are more important than you are and that the world revolves around them. Their needs will always be put first and considered more important.

Red Flag 5: Anger Management Issues

Having a partner who cannot control their anger might cause you to feel unsafe and anxious during conflicts (which are a big part of any healthy relationship).

If a partner cannot control their emotions when they are upset, this can be an early sign of an abusive partner and you should be very wary of this.

You should be able to have amicable disagreements with your partner and voice your opinions without being weary of their reaction afterward, even when it’s a difficult subject, and not fear for your safety.

Anger should not be an intimidation tactic.

Red Flag 6: They Avoid Conflicts

Avoiding conflict will not protect a relationship, it will result in small easy resolvable issues building up over weeks or months into bigger resentments that will soon blow up into a massive argument.

Avoiding these difficult topics can be a sign that your partner is not emotionally mature and stable and may not be ready for a serious long-term relationship.

Red Flag 7: Physical, Emotional, or Mental Abuse

These may be the most alarming red flag of all. Actually, this one is a flaming red fire!

While physical abuse may be easy to identify and pin down, mental and emotional abuse can be difficult to identify and acknowledge. And by the time it is recognized and you start dealing with it, long-term damage may already have been done.

Needless to say, any form of abuse should not be tolerated and can be extremely dangerous. If you fear your partner may be abusive, get out. Put yourself first and trust your gut.

What To Do When You Notice Red Flags In Your Relationship

When it comes to relationship red flags, the best way to handle them is early, honestly, and fairly.

Open an honest dialogue with your partner, express your concerns and feelings, and let them do the same.

Keep your needs in mind, communicate clearly and often, and try to keep your emotions in check.

These red flags should not be ignored. They can be signs of an unhealthy toxic relationship or even an abusive one.

How To Build Intimacy In A Relationship To Foster The Strongest Bond

Intimacy in relationships

Intimacy generally refers to how close two individuals are to one another. Vulnerability, transparency, and trust are necessary. Being intimate with someone on one level doesn’t always imply that you’ll be intimate with them in other ways.

Depending on the power dynamics present, you could experience different sorts of intimacy with your parents, significant other, friends, or coworkers.

Consider romantic relationships, where decisions are often made in concert and neither party exercises authority over the other or has access to greater resources.

One method to develop intimacy in a relationship is to share your most private and darkest thoughts and feelings with your partner. However, if the thought of sharing your most embarrassing or vulnerable moments with your spouse makes you feel horribly exposed, don’t worry.

Other strategies for increasing intimacy in a relationship can help!

The goal of intimacy is to deepen and strengthen a relationship with your partner, and if your partner has no desire to strengthen your intimacy, it can be a red flag.

However, the way you develop and communicate that intimacy is a very personal experience.

For one person, it is letting someone into their personal space. For another, it can include having a deep discussion over which Twilight movie was superior.

Types Of Intimacy

To deepen a relationship with your partner you have to work on all types of intimacy. Not all relationships involve all types of intimacy, but these five are the most common to share:

Physical Intimacy

Intimacy in a relationship

Bringing bodies together. Does not necessarily have to be sexual, such as when you lean on a friend’s shoulder to confide in them about your awful week.

Body closeness is referred to as physical intimacy. Depending on the connection, it could entail holding hands, kissing, embracing, or cuddling. Touching and closeness are involved in this sort of intimacy, which can increase emotions of emotional closeness.

Physical contact can strengthen relationships and lessen feelings of isolation. Other relationships, where trust and vulnerability may not be present, are not typically this close.

You can openly discuss the other person’s comfort level with various forms of touch in order to foster this type of intimate connection.

Make the other person feel safe when you touch them as this is another approach to foster a physical intimate connection.

Start with mild touches, gentle hugs, or forehead kisses to achieve this. Respecting boundaries and being open to the other person’s responses is critical.

Emotional Intimacy

Sharing sensitive information that you wouldn’t feel comfortable disclosing to strangers or large groups of people is emotional intimacy. It’s about being open with your deepest emotions, worries, and thoughts when you are emotionally connected with someone else.

It entails feeling secure and unchallenged. The key is to also act in the same way toward the other person.

You must take chances and be honest in a relationship to foster an emotionally intimate connection. Closeness in this area, however, may prove difficult if one or both of the parties are emotionally distant or fearful of being intimate.

Most forms of relationships can lead to the development of this kind of intimacy.

By improving communication skills and listening more intently to the other person, emotional intimacy can be fostered.

Assurance that you are secure with each other despite having different experiences and emotions may be necessary for this form of closeness and comfort when you express your deepest fears, pains, and doubts.

Intellectual Intimacy

Understanding another person’s point of view and exchanging ideas and philosophies about oneself and life.

The term intellectual intimacy refers to the sharing of thoughts, beliefs, and perspectives on life. It could also entail pushing one another intellectually and being receptive to learning about or at least taking into account the other person’s viewpoints.

Nurturing intellectual intimacy includes engaging in thought-provoking conversations about a variety of subjects and feeling comfortable expressing your own opinions.

The best way to build intellectual intimacy is to treat each other with respect, even when you hold divergent opinions.

You might wish to maintain a curious mindset in order to cultivate intellectual connection. Sharing perspectives with the goal of mutual learning is more important than fighting opposing viewpoints.

Spiritual Intimacy

Intimacy in a relationship

This category might comprise both essential values (such as kindness) and religious beliefs. There could be a common goal for how you wish to conduct your life.

Spiritual intimacy is the ability to feel close to, validated by, and comfortable in expressing your deepest thoughts and convictions regarding your life’s purpose and your connection to divine forces. Because it could signify different things to different people, the idea is still hazy.

Although sharing a broader definition of spirituality may be a requirement for spiritual connection, it is not a requirement that both parties have the same beliefs.

You could wish to understand more about each other’s spiritual practices and beliefs, and more importantly, why those things are meaningful to them, in order to foster spiritual connection. Spiritual closeness entails explaining how your beliefs affect your life while acknowledging that this may differ from other people.

Experimental Intimacy

You might be asking what exactly constitutes experimental intimacy among the various sorts of intimacy. You and your partner don’t have to spend all of your time together. You two must make time for one another, nevertheless, and enjoy some worthwhile adventures.

Experiential closeness is more about getting to know each other and sharing your daily experiences. An intimacy of activity is experimental closeness.

Make a list of activities you can do together as well as a second list of activities you can both do on your own. The lists will assist in maintaining harmony between your private space and communal space.

For the sake of developing the required intimacy, try to undertake more and more activities that you both enjoy. Take your partner for a stroll, watch a movie together, go gardening, etc. All of them will aid in addressing your relationship’s lack of experiential closeness.

Fear Of Intimacy And Ways To Overcome It

The phrase “fear of intimacy” describes the fear of being overly intimate with another person in one or more areas.

Depending on the person’s age and the sort of connection, there are a number of reasons why they could dread intimacy.

Many younger individuals may spend more time exploring for other potential companions than enhancing their present relationships and developing closeness. The fear of losing your identity is another potential concern with regard to intimate relationships.

The interaction between a parent and kid might also include a fear of vulnerability. Even adults may decide not to have a close relationship with their parents or guardians if they are worried about disappointing them.

Getting help from a mental health professional can help you overcome your phobia of intimacy. They might be able to investigate the origins of your anxiety and collaborate with you to come up with a strategy that works for your individual situation.

How To Overcome Fear Of Intimacy

  • The likelihood that a relationship will succeed is 50%. Maybe a 60% chance in your favor if you’re lucky. But if you don’t even want to attempt, you’re doomed to failure. And it’s true that not taking the chance hurts just as much as failing.
  • You won’t ever feel as though you’re giving up your independence in the right kind of relationship. The ideal companion will encourage you, improve your experiences, and assist you in creating the life you both desire. Not a prison sentence, but a partner might be more appropriate.
  • You can always choose a new partner. You are probably not open enough to get to know one another and genuinely determine if you are compatible if you are worried about picking the incorrect spouse. I’m not advocating that you enter every relationship prepared to cut it off. At the start of a relationship, it is comforting to know that there is always a way out.

Tips For Building Intimacy

Here are my top tips for building and maintaining intimacy in a relationship.

Prioritize Your Intimacy

Although it may seem obvious, this is not the case for many of us. What you value most is reflected in your life. And whether or not we make an effort, life still happens to us. You might easily become a “victim of circumstance” who is only reacting to everything that is thrown your way, especially if you have a growing family with young children at home. Start being deliberate.

If intimacy in a relationship is important to you, it follows that you consider it frequently and concentrate on how you will prioritize and fit it in. Love your partner as much as you can.

People frequently prioritize having affairs and are secretive about it. It isn’t a side issue; it’s brand-new, intriguing, and their own secret. Why not direct that energy onto your relationship instead of engaging in an affair? Be imaginative.

Think of sneaky ways to incorporate the physical aspect. The intentional connection may happen through touch, and the more we incorporate it into our relationships, the more our attention is drawn to it. Touch is something you can’t truly ignore for very long; when someone touches you, you pay attention. especially if it is done in a private manner. So focus on one another, extend your hands, and make a physical connection.

Schedule Your Intimacy

I’m not advocating that this turn into a routine, scheduled portion of the day. However, scheduling it in clarifies things for both of you; there is no guesswork; everything is spelled out clearly. Unspoken expectations only cause unease and resentment.

Plan your day so that you allocate time to prioritizing your physical connection. It’s not necessary to plan a complicated date. Something as easy as a daily bedtime where you and your partner cuddle and focus on physical intimacy could cause a significant change in your relationship. And that’s it—just a straightforward reminder to make physical contact each day.

That’s all there is to it: just a daily reminder to make physical contact.

Communicate Your Expectations

Be honest with one another and express your needs and desires clearly. If you’re unsure, be honest about it too so that you can both learn. Learn about one another’s personalities and the things that bind you together most strongly. This is a really crucial aspect of your connection. It’s difficult to expect your partner to know better if you don’t know yourself.

Looking to play around in the bedroom more together? Together, you can figure out what both of you find enjoyable.

Make It Your Routine

Make your relationship with your partner a top priority and an integral part of your daily routine, much like exercise and meditation. Not all habits are harmful; you may develop the habit of watching TV every night or you could develop the habit of doing yoga or another form of exercise every day.

I want to emphasize how crucial it is to develop a routine around your physical connection. A habit needs to be broken after 28 days, and it takes 90 days to truly implement a new routine and make it a habit.

It will become an automatic part of your life that you miss when you don’t do it if you incorporate it into your daily routine in the same way that you incorporate exercise and brushing your teeth. If you frequently exercise, your body will miss it and feel “off” if you don’t prioritize it.

Similarly to this, if you make it a daily habit to be physically intimate with your lover, you will miss it if you don’t. We definitely notice if a day goes by where we don’t touch because our physical intimacy is such an integral part of our daily life. It’s like skipping that yoga or meditation session that helps us stay connected, balanced, and focused throughout the day.

7 Activities to Help Build Intimacy

It takes work to create intimacy, but it doesn’t have to be difficult, as we discussed in the preceding paragraph. So, each day of the week, we’ll set a small task for you to complete. Even though they may appear a little unusual or ridiculous, each activity only lasts for around 10 or 15 minutes and is intended to assist create that intimate setting.

Having A Staring Contest

Intimacy in a relationship

For the first minute, just stare into each other’s eyes, without grinning or giggling. Have a friendly smile exchange for the next minute. Make a sorrowful look for the entire third minute. Make a furious expression for the fourth. And for the last minute, attempt to convince your lover that they are the only thing in the world that you love.

The intimacy that can be developed through this pastime may initially feel a little odd. Being able to look directly into someone’s eyes for 5 full minutes can be a little unsettling.

Guide Your Partner

Locate the room that is farthest from the kitchen. Cover your partner’s eyes, lead them into the kitchen, have them pour a glass of water, and have them drink it, all while keeping their eyes covered, starting in that room. Then, trade roles and repeat the process!

You must trust your spouse in order to develop closeness, and there is no better way to achieve that than by leading them carefully around furniture and other obstructions while you hide your eyes.

Reveal Your Insecurities

Tell your lover about each insecurity you have one at a time. something that causes you to feel inadequate. Be frightened. After you’ve listened, reassuringly explain why they are BETTER than adequate. Make sure they understand how much you adore them and that you wouldn’t alter a thing about them!

Having a companion who makes you feel welcome is crucial to developing intimacy. Your spouse will be able to concentrate more on the emotional connections between the two of you and less on their own insecurities if they know that you adore them just as they are. Therefore, never stop telling them how unique they are in real life!

Take A Sex Quiz

It can be difficult to be completely honest about your sexual preferences with a new partner or even a long-term one, especially when it comes to explaining the specifics of what you enjoy and don’t like in bed. It’s critical to feel at ease discussing sex with your spouse, but doing so requires time and trust. Doing a sex quiz like Mojo Upgrade can be a less awkward approach to discuss your secret turn-ons and fantasies with your lover if you need a little assistance getting the conversation going. It will increase your intimacy and make you feel more at ease sexually with one another.

Two Breath Hug

By enacting a special hug here and there, you communicate to your partner that you want to be connected. Unlike that all-too-casual hug we do with strangers and acquaintances, the Two-Breath Hug puts a pause in the robotic mechanisms of everyday living.

Love requires us to be conscious. This hug brings that pause and that special attention in a small yet very significant way.

You might let your spouse know that you wish to connect by giving them random, special hugs. The Two-Breath Hug pauses the robotic processes of daily life, unlike that all-too-casual hug we give to strangers and friends.

We need to be conscious in order to love. This hug, in a modest but very important way, causes that stop and that particular attention.

Listen To Each Other

In this activity, one partner speaks or “vents” on a subject of their choice, and the other partner must sit across from them and only listen.

You two might be surprised by how uncomfortable it might feel to simply listen without responding. The listener is then free to offer criticism once the five, three, or eight-minute diatribe is finished.

Another communication exercise that improves our ability to fully listen and absorb another person’s stream of consciousness is active listening practice.

They will feel as like we have our full attention when we concentrate on them without being distracted, which is important yet uncommon in today’s hectic society.

Intentional listening also serves as a reminder to keep our attention on the other person and refrain from speaking before they are ready. At the conclusion of this activity, you will switch roles as speaker and listener.

7 Breath Forehead Connection

Whether you’re sitting up straight or resting on your sides, face each other and lightly touch your foreheads.

Your chins should be slightly lowered so that your noses aren’t quite touching (a little bit of contact is fine, but it’s not crucial for this exercise).

Breathe seven slow, deep breaths together with your spouse, foreheads touching. The first or second breaths could feel like they require a lot of conscious attention, similar to the eye contact exercise, but by the third or fourth breath, it will feel like a very natural thing to perform.

Seven breaths is the ideal minimum amount of breaths for couples to fully dive in to the present and feel connected, but you can continue doing this practice for several minutes if you’d like.

You can do this for a few minutes if you and your companion are overachievers who enjoy doing additional schoolwork.

Communicate And Have Conversations

Asking your spouse questions is a terrific way to boost your pleasure, spice up your sex life, get to know each other even better, and get turned on by the chat before getting physical. Communication is the cornerstone of a healthy relationship.

Here are 22 questions to ask your lover to increase your intimacy and connection. Set a moody environment with some candles, sensuous music, and no phones before diving into three to five questions at a time. If it feels more comfortable than speaking aloud initially, you can always choose the questions and write your responses down in a journal before taking turns.

  1. What scares you the most?
  2. What do you want most deeply?
  3. What do you adore about me the most?
  4. What are your three favorite joint memories?
  5. How do you feel that you should be loved?
  6. What would you use, to sum up our relationship in one word?
  7. What is the sexiest thing about me?
  8. How can I express my gratitude to you?
  9. What kind of physical contact is your preferred one?
  10. How would you describe me to others?
  11. What about me did you notice right away?
  12. What about me appeals to you the most?
  13. What more could I do for you than what I already do?
  14. What intentions do you have for us?
  15. How can we (create a sex bucket list) liven things up in the bedroom?
  16. Do we share a similar outlook on life?
  17. What excites you?
  18. What irritates you?
  19. What was your favorite thing I’ve ever done to you?
  20. What sexual fantasies have you never shared with anyone?
  21. What body part do you like to be touched the most?
  22. What turns you on the most?

By asking each other these questions, you’ll be able to deepen your connection and intimacy, which will help your relationship flourish and increase your degree of sexual intimacy.
