46 Productive Things To Do Get More Done At Home Even When You’re Feeling Lazy

Filed Under: Things To Do // 08/03/2024

productive things to do when you're bored at home

Do you get bored easily or feel like you lose motivation quickly? Or perhaps you’re just looking for suggestions on how to spend your free time more wisely.

In this post, I’ll be sharing with you 46 easy things to do when you’re bored, all of which are simple to do and will fit in well with your daily activities.

These suggestions will provide you with the motivation and direction necessary to stay motivated even on the most boring days.

They can be used to organize chores, go through decluttering rituals, or engage in enjoyable hobbies.

Productive Things To Do When Bored – At Home:

1. Spring Clean Your Place

Nothing is more gratifying than having a spotless home. If cleaning the entire home seems like too much work, tackle it room by room.

When you have a clean home, it makes your mind feel clear and less cluttered as well. If you feel like you’re in a funk, try cleaning up. It always works.

Make a thorough inventory of your possessions and get rid of anything you don’t use or need.

Why not donate to a worthy cause or sell online if anything is still in good condition? When was the last time you emptied the fridge and gave it a good clean?

Maybe it’s time to defrost the freezer as well.

2. Organize your desk

Your mental health is affected in the same way by removing physical clutter.

Sort and file the papers and notes that are all over your desk, remove the sticky notes from your monitor that are no longer necessary, and clean your work surfaces.

Give yourself permission to start over completely, including your screens and computer.

3. Organize all your important documents

Get all your bills, insurance details, and any other important documents all in one handy place.

It’s almost scary how easy it is to let your file cabinet get out of hand.

But much like the relentless power of mother nature, if left to its own devices, your cabinet can quickly grow beyond your means of control if you don’t tend to it regularly.

If you really want to get into it, create folders to organize your documents based on the category of their content.

4. Organize Your Wardrobe

It’s a job we all hate doing, but it’s always satisfying once it’s all done! Due to the size of the job, this deserves a separate mention.

What else can you downsize besides organizing (by color or season)? Making the extra room can help you remember old favorites you’d forgotten about or highlight the essentials your outfit still requires.

Additionally, now is a great time to choose a few go-to outfits to reduce early stress and daily decision fatigue.

This is especially useful if you’re running late. But more significantly, think about giving your unwanted items new life by taking them to a consignment store or donating them!

5. Do those little tasks you’ve been putting off

We all have that “thing” that we know will only take a few minutes, but can’t bring ourselves to do.

Examples include cleaning out your vehicle, updating your registration, washing your makeup brushes, and re-seasoning your cast iron.

6. Do some gardening

If you don’t have a pet, taking care of a plant is an excellent place to start because it feels good.

Spend a few minutes during your day cleaning its leaves, spraying it with water, and setting it in the light.

Creating a vegetable garden at home is a great way to eat fresh, healthy food while teaching your children where their food comes from.

If you don’t have room or a garden then why not try potting some herbs instead?

Additionally, plants reduce tension levels and clean the air through photosynthesis.

But if you do have a companion, make sure the plant is either out of the pet’s small reach or not toxic to animals.

7. Do some self-care

Anything that simply makes you feel nice qualifies as self-care.

Your me time is priceless! Use it sensibly. Think of self-care but without any strict limitations or negative judgments to hinder you.

Feeling good about yourself has genuine value, regardless of whether you work from home or not, and it can influence your work ethic.

Put on a hydrating face mask, paint your nails, crack open soda water on the terrace, or, shockingly, just allow yourself to be bored for a moment.

Allow yourself some time to stop and do nothing because boredom inspires creativity. Life can move fairly quickly.

After this break, return to your duties feeling revitalized and renewed.

8. Get some exercise

No matter where you are, even at your workplace, stretch, practice yoga, or work out!

The justification of feeling constrained in your work does not apply here because chair yoga does exist, or you could simply walk around the office a bit.

Your hips, shoulders, neck, and back can suffer greatly from hours of using your laptop and sitting in a desk chair, but you won’t lament the few minutes per day you spend changing those bad habits.

No matter how large or tiny the movements appear to be right now, they will be effective!

9. Meditate

The advantages of meditation are countless.

You can learn to manage stress, improve self-awareness, focus on the present, lessen negative emotions, and acquire new perspectives with just 10 minutes of daily meditation.

If you’re new to meditation, streaming services like YouTube or Spotify are excellent places to start.

Try guided meditation and find the ones you like by looking around. There are many different meditation techniques, so you can find one that works for you.

10. Go for a walk in nature

One of the best ways to help boost your well-being is to take a walk in nature. Walking not only benefits your mind it can also help your physical health too!

Walking for at least 30 minutes a day has numerous powerful advantages for both physical and emotional health, which almost seem too simple.

Going for a daily walk can help you decompress, elevate your mood, enhance the quality of your sleep, lower stress, and enhance your view of yourself as a whole.

Another great method to escape your routine is to go for a walk. Leave your phone at home, explore a new part of your neighborhood or city, or listen to an audiobook or podcast about productivity.

11. Make a weekly meal plan

Meal planning not only helps you make healthier meal choices, but it can also save you time, and money and reduce wastage.

Do you consistently seem to leave the shop without the one item you really needed?

By making a list in advance, you can eliminate any uncertainty about what you’ll purchase, what you’ll do with it, and how much you’ll actually consume in a week.

Make a list of a few well-balanced recipes for each daily dinner and a tasty snack. Then base your shopping plan on those essential ingredients.

Give your future self a healthy push by making your meal-prepped choices the obvious choice, especially if you’re someone who spends a lot of time during your lunch break just staring into your fridge.

12. Write some to-do lists

One of the best ways of staying productive and organized is to write ‘to-do’ lists!

Make a list of everything you have to do today, not just work-related obligations.

Do you need to empty the trash? Clear the table? Add it to your to-do list all the things you need to do.

The beginning of the day can sometimes be the most difficult portion, but allowing yourself the thrill of checking even the smallest item off your list can increase your productivity throughout the day.

13. Journal

Consider your day, most recent accomplishments, thoughts, emotions, and things for which you are thankful.

Writing in a journal is a great way to start creating your future self!

It can be intimidating to start with a blank sheet, but the good news is that there are no wrong ways to journal.

Make a letter to yourself, list your objectives, write down inspirational quotes or mantras, and begin molding the person you want to be.

14. Read a book

Nothing better than a good book to transport you into another world! It’s been suggested that reading for 15 minutes in the morning can make you feel more concentrated.

Find something worthwhile to do! Pick books that contain useful advice that will enable you to advance in some aspect of your life.

15. Take up a new hobby

Why not pick up a new hobby if you do have plenty of free time?

Try a few various things if you’re unsure of what to do; you never know what might work. It’s not necessary to be talented in your interests.

The unrealistic expectation that you must excel at everything you do may prevent you from trying so many things that you might truly love.

Take up crocheting, a new cookbook, or an instrument. The only justification you need to continue doing something is that you enjoy it.

16. Re-arrange furniture

An easy way to freshen up a room is to reorganize the furniture in your room or home. Feng shui was a set of customary methods used in ancient China.

The procedure aims to improve a space’s energy movement in order to improve your well-being. Look up feng shui principles and make some changes to revitalize your area.

17. Organize your junk drawer

We all have that junk drawer that’s full of stuff we might just not need anymore! Maybe it’s time you organize it?

18. Clean your make-up brushes

Makeup brushes can gather bacteria, dead skin cells, and germs over time, which can clog your pores and cause dull skin and breakouts.

19. Change your bedsheets

It’s a simple task yet we all forget to do it. Change out your bedsheets to really up your night’s sleep. Nothing beats going to bed in a clean bed.

20. Check expiration dates

When was the last time you checked the expiration dates on products, especially your skincare and makeup products?

I recall that when I last looked, I discovered some pantry items that were a few years out of date.

21. Organise your phone

Update your contact information, and get rid of any outdated phone numbers.

Delete any outdated apps that you don’t use anymore. It will not only free up memory for you, but it will also increase the security of your phone.

If you enjoy taking pictures, you’ll probably find that most of them are quite identical. Delete any copies or items you no longer need to save storage space.

A wonderful way to relax is to bake. We get a sense of routine from measuring ingredients and following recipes, which can be calming.

Plus, you get to consume some delicious treats!

25. Have a spa day at home

With an internet connection, you can access a wealth of incredible tools.

Learn a new skill if you discover yourself with some free time.

31. Plan your week ahead

On Sunday evenings, I typically plan out my weeks.

There isn’t a schedule for each and every hour of the week.

But I like to know what I’m doing after I’m done with work, what I can do on the weekends, and how much work I have to do each week.

A monthly or weekly evaluation is another option. You can even plan a year in preparation for non-negotiables.

32. Change your passwords

However, occasionally these get missed.

Therefore, go ahead and add them to your schedule. Make these visits right away if you have any additional worries, such as a mole or bad hearing.

34. Make a vision board

This is usually popular at the beginning of the year, but you can start at any moment.

This is especially accurate given that vision boards frequently show your inspiration for your present-day self or your future goals.

Bored of the same meals all the time?

The Worst Mistakes You Could Possibly Make When Hosting A Party

Filed Under: Party Ideas // 08/03/2024

worst mistakes to make when you host a party

So you’ve meticulously planned the perfect party, sent out invites, and even remembered to set the table with precision.

The excitement is palpable, and you’re ready for a night of laughter and celebration.

But hold on—ever heard the saying, “It’s not a party until something goes wrong”?

Well, we’re here to guide you through the worst mistakes you can make as a party host.

Party Hosting Mistakes You Should Avoid

Not Asking for Help

In the grand orchestration of a party, the solo act is a risky endeavor.

Failure to ask for help might turn your hosting debut into a one-man show, leaving you exhausted and your guests unattended.

Cancelling The Day Of

Life happens, and unexpected challenges arise, but canceling the party on the day of?

That’s a surefire way to disappoint your guests and earn a reputation as the flaky friend.

Unless it’s an absolute emergency, keep the show going. Your guests will appreciate your commitment to a good time.

Your Invites Went Out Too Late

Imagine you get an invite to a friend’s party, with an RSVP deadline that’s practically yesterday, you would probably hate that, and so would anyone else.

The result? A room echoing with silence, devoid of the laughter and chatter you envisioned.

A late invitation can turn your party dreams into a solo soirée.

Forgetting About Atmosphere

The perfect party isn’t just about what’s on the menu; it’s about creating an atmosphere.

Neglecting decor, lighting, or music can leave your guests feeling like they missed the memo on the theme.

Poor Planning

Imagine running out of essentials midway through the night.

A lack of foresight can turn your party into a logistical nightmare.

Anticipate needs, and your guests will feel cared for, not caught off guard.

Forgetting to Introduce Guests to One Another

A room full of strangers is like a social minefield.

Neglecting introductions leaves your guests in a sea of unfamiliar faces, desperately clinging to the one person they know.

Asking Guests to Mingle

Hold on, isn’t mingling the point of a party?

Well, yes and no. While encouraging social interaction is key, explicitly asking your guests to mingle can feel forced.

Instead, create opportunities for organic conversations. Set up cozy seating areas, plan group activities, and let the mingling happen naturally.

Assuming All Guests Will Get Along

In the mosaic of personalities, assumptions can shatter the illusion of a harmonious gathering.

Recognize that not all guests will share an instant connection.

A host’s touch can be the glue that mends potential awkwardness.

Not Having A Playlist

You remembered to set the table, the ambiance is perfect, but wait—where’s the music?

The subtle hum of conversation can only go so far.

As your guests find themselves in a symphony of awkward silence, you’ll wish you had that playlist ready.

Note to self: never underestimate the power of a well-curated soundtrack.

Waiting Too Long to Serve Food or Drinks

The mood is set, the guests are chatting, but where’s the food?

Waiting too long to serve your culinary delights is like keeping a Christmas present just out of reach—it’s torture.

People attend parties for the socializing, but let’s be real, they’re also here for the snacks.

Be the hero of your own gathering by timing the arrival of your food and drinks just right, ensuring no one leaves hungry or thirsty.

Also, make sure to include appetizers that guests can nibble on as they wait for the main meal, this will avoid a riot starting outside your kitchen.

You Overdid the Menu

While a lavish spread is tempting, there’s a delicate balance between a feast and a food frenzy.

Overwhelm your guests with choices, and they might be too busy debating their options to engage in the social banquet you’ve prepared.

A feast fit for royalty is admirable, but if your guests are too intimidated by the culinary sophistication, your carefully crafted dishes may remain untouched.

Remember, approachability is the key to a satisfied appetite.

Plus this will only make it even harder for you to get the food out at a decent time.

You Skipped Elevated Tableware

Mismatched plates and plastic utensils may scream casual, but there’s a fine line between relaxed and underwhelming.

Neglecting elevated tableware might leave your guests wondering if they stumbled into a casual dinner rather than the fabulous affair they anticipated.

You Didn’t Stock the Bar Correctly

Ah, the heart of any good party—the bar.

But beware of the barren wasteland that is an inadequately stocked one.

You should consider what your guests like to drink, maybe shoot them this question on the invites just to get a gauge of what you need to buy for the party to accommodate everyone.

Also, make sure to have non-alcoholic options to allow for all your guests to have a good time.

Not Having Enough Refreshments

Imagine a desert mirage – guests parched and scanning the horizon for liquid relief.

Not having enough refreshments is the quickest way to turn your party oasis into a social drought.

Not Taking Guests Dietary Restrictions In Mind

In a world of diverse dietary needs, leaving out gluten-free or dairy-free options is a party foul.

Avoid this mistake by considering your guests’ dietary restrictions during the menu planning phase.

A few thoughtful choices can make everyone feel included and appreciated.

You Didn’t Put Out a Trash Can

In the quest for a pristine home, the humble trash can often becomes the unsung hero.

Forget to place one strategically, and your guests may resort to creative (and not-so-appreciated) methods of disposal.

Getting Drunk

A little liquid courage can be fun, but getting drunk before your guests even arrive?

That’s a party host’s nightmare. Moderate your libations, stay coherent, and be the anchor of the celebration.

Remember, you’re the captain of this ship, and a captain doesn’t abandon their post.

Apologize Too Much

“Sorry” seems to be the hardest word, but it shouldn’t be the most frequently uttered one.

Apologizing excessively can create an awkward atmosphere.

Own your hiccups gracefully, make a joke, and steer the conversation back to the celebration. Remember, you’re the maestro of merriment.

Trying Too Hard to Be Accommodating

Creating a comfortable atmosphere is a must, but there’s a fine line between being accommodating and overcompensating.

Don’t stress yourself out trying to fulfill every guest’s request.

Strike a balance, and remember, the goal is for everyone to enjoy the party—including you.

You Forgot to Make a Timeline

Time flies when you’re having fun, and without a timeline, it can soar out of control.

Forget to structure your evening, and your guests may find themselves trapped in a time warp, wondering if the clock has taken a holiday.

In the intricate dance of hosting, a lack of planning is akin to two left feet.

Spontaneity is delightful, but without a roadmap, you might find yourself leading your guests into a chaotic conga line rather than a harmonious waltz.

Starting to clean up too early

As the night winds down, the temptation to wield the cleaning supplies becomes irresistible.

But beware! Put away that broom too soon, and you risk signaling the end of the festivities.

Guests may feel rushed, missing out on the natural ebb and flow of a party’s conclusion.

Rushing People Out the Door

The night’s been a blast, but all good things must come to an end, right?

True, but pushing your guests towards the exit prematurely is a sure way to douse the party flame.

Be mindful of the time, but let the festivities wind down naturally. Your guests will thank you for a night well spent.

In the symphony of hosting, every note counts. Avoid these pitfalls, and your party will be a masterpiece etched into the memories of your guests.

So, go forth, aspiring hosts, and may your gatherings be a harmonious blend of laughter, connection, and celebration.

So there you have it—the pitfalls to avoid and the smooth moves to make when hosting the soirée of the year.

After all, the mark of a true host is not the absence of mistakes but the ability to turn them into unforgettable moments.

Bridal Shower Favors FAQ

There are plenty of interesting and economical party favors that will definitely wow your guests, whether you’re holding a bridal shower brunch or a wine tasting at a vineyard.

But, before you go, here are some answers to the most often asked questions concerning wedding shower favors.

Are Bridal Shower Favors Necessary?

Bridal shower favors aren’t required, but they’re a (very) sweet gift.

Favors are a fun way to express your gratitude while also providing visitors with a small memento of the event. Bridal shower favors that guests can use and enjoy after the reception are the greatest.

Bonus points if your favors are themed after the bridal shower.

How Much Should You Spend On A Bridal Shower Favor?

The cost of bridal shower favors is determined by several things, including your budget and the number of visitors.

If you’re throwing a small and personal party, you may want to spend more than someone throwing a larger gathering. But the choice is entirely yours!

There are plenty of fantastic selections between $1 and $5, as we just showed you, and there is no reason to pay more than $10 for each favor.

Who Pays For Bridal Shower Party Favors?

Typically, whoever hosts the wedding shower is in charge of purchasing party favors.

In many cases, it is a joint endeavor amongst friends and family members who share planning responsibilities. Someone will occasionally volunteer to pay the full cost of favors.

In other circumstances, a group of people agrees to split the bill. Typically, an honor attendant or parent—for example, the maid of honor or mother of the bride—begins the dialogue.

As always, it’s critical to keep everyone’s budget in mind.

What Do You Write On Bridal Shower Favors?

If you’re hand-writing or making your own bridal shower favor tags, include a witty statement as well as the date of the bridal shower or wedding.

The date you write on the bridal shower favors typically depends on the wording you choose.

For instance, if your saying references the bridal shower itself, then you would use the bridal shower date.

On the other hand, if you go with wording that references the bride and groom, you’ll want to use the wedding date.

Who Gets Invited to the Bridal Shower? -Bridal Shower Guest List Etiquette

Bridal shower

A bridal shower is an occasion to publicly congratulate a bride-to-be.

It’s a time to eat and drink bubbly, share advice and anecdotes, and lavish extra attention on the special lady.

The bridesmaids and/or the mother of the bride or prospective mother-in-law generally host this intimate celebration, which will have a significantly lower guest list than the main wedding reception.

You might have overlooked the guest list in the midst of all the preparation that goes into organizing the ideal bridal shower.

So who exactly gets invited to a bridal shower? And who doesn’t quite make the cut?

We’re breaking it down group by group and responding to the most frequently asked questions about bridal shower guest list etiquette to help you decide who does (and does not) get an invite.

Who Gets A Bridal Shower Invite?

The following are the three key groups that should be invited to the bridal shower:

The Bridal Party

bridal shower

The maid of honor and bridesmaids are at the top of the guest list, especially since they will almost certainly be throwing the shower.

If the bride is fine with children attending her bridal shower, this group may also include the flower girl and any junior bridesmaids.

Immediate And Close Female Relatives

The bride’s immediate female family members are also at the top of the guest list, just after the bridal party. This includes her mother, sisters (if they aren’t already bridesmaids), and any bride and/or groom’s children.

Following the bride’s immediate family are her close female relatives such as grandmothers, aunts, and cousins. Again, if the bride invites children to her bridal shower, this group may include nieces as well.

Included in this group are the bride’s future inlaws, which include the groom’s mother, sisters, grandmothers, and any close aunts and cousins.

As with the bride’s family, the groom’s nieces may be included.

Close Female Friends

Close female friends of both the bride and groom round out the bridal shower guest list. Pals from childhood, college, and any additional pals in the couple’s close social circle are included.

Who Does Not Get Invited to the Bridal Shower?

Except in exceptional circumstances, the following three groups do not receive a wedding shower invitation:

Coworkers

This can usually be a confusing one, coworkers themselves are frequently confused about whether they should be invited to the bridal shower, although this group typically does not make the guest list.

The bride’s coworkers with whom she socializes outside of work and/or those she deems close friends would be an exception.

Friends Of Relatives

Friends of the bride’s relatives should not be invited to the bridal shower because it is intended to be a private intimate event. Friends who are considered family, such as the bride’s childhood best friend, or the bride’s mom’s close friend who is like an aunt would be an exemption to this rule.

Non-Family Significant Others And Plus Ones

Plus ones or non-family significant others are the final group who do not require an invitation to the bridal shower.

In other words, the groomsmen’s wedding dates or the bride’s brother’s one-month girlfriend.

Bridal Shower Guest List Etiquette FAQS

Now that you’ve decided who to invite and who not to invite, here are some frequently asked questions about the bridal shower guest list to help you through:

Should I Host Multiple Bridal Showers?

Many brides today elect to give more than one wedding shower to make the guest list more manageable and simpler for everyone to attend, and it’s entirely OK to do so.

Brides are frequently placed in situations where numerous individuals want to throw her a bridal shower. Furthermore, many guests may find it difficult to get to a bridal shower.

If half of the visitors live in another part of the country, it is quite fine to hold a second shower in that location to celebrate with those friends and family.

A second shower is also an excellent choice for brides who like to have a family-only shower followed by a friends-only event at a later date.

While planning the remainder of your big day, many showers may seem overkill, but they allow you to invite more people, especially if you have a large family and group of friends.

How Many People Do You Invite To A Bridal Shower?

The answer depends on a number of factors, including the size of the bride’s social circle, her bridal party, and, of course, the size of the wedding guest list.

Someone throwing a 100-person wedding, for example, will have to invite more bridal shower guests than someone hosting a wedding half the size.

That being said, in my experience, the average number of guests at a bridal shower is roughly 25, with the usual range being 20-40. The bride and bridal shower host must ultimately make the final selection.

Can You Invite Someone To The Bridal Shower And Not The Wedding?

No, according to bridal shower guest list etiquette, you should never invite someone to the bridal shower without also inviting them to the wedding. This is regarded as exceedingly tacky and impolite.

It is only permitted to have a guest who is not attending the wedding attend the bridal shower if the guest was invited but is unable to attend the wedding due to personal circumstances.

Should Every Woman On The Wedding Guest List Be On The Bridal Shower Guest List?

You do not have to (and should not) invite every lady to the bridal shower unless you are having a tiny, intimate wedding.

Again, the bridal shower is a celebration for close friends and family members, the same goes for the bachelorette party, whereas the wedding is the primary event.

Does The Groom Attend The Bridal Shower?

The husband is not traditionally invited to the wedding shower. The only exception is if the couple is throwing a coed shower.

Having said that, it is customary for the groom to attend at the end of the bridal shower to greet visitors and assist the bride in transporting her gifts home.

When Should You Send Out Bridal Shower Invitations?

Invites should go out 6-8 weeks before the event. You want to give guests time to plan for travel.

Make sure all guests RSVP to only one person. If the maid of honor is hosting the shower, all RSVPs should go back to her. That way everything stays organized.

Should I Send Invitations to People Who Live Out of Town?

It’s wonderful to extend invitations to out-of-town close friends and family. They are unlikely to regard this as a gift-giving tactic, but rather as a gesture to make them feel valued and included.

How Much Should You Spend On A Bridal Shower Gift? Plus 10 Amazing Bridal Shower Gift Ideas That Are In Budget

Bridal shower gift ideas

So you’ve received a bridal shower invitation?

Be ready to give the bride a shower gift. The purpose of a bridal shower is to celebrate a bride and her impending nuptials, and it is also a time when attendees are expected to bring a gift for the bride along with them.

A basic rule of thumb is that a bridal shower present shouldn’t be as expensive as a wedding gift when determining how much to spend on one. The pricing range, however, may change based on your relationship with the bride.

Etiquette dictates that when you go to a bridal shower, you should buy a present for the bride. The only time you shouldn’t bring a gift is if the bride-to-be specifically asked for none.

A number of variables determine the cost of the present you should get the bride. Your personal budget comes first. Then, how close you are to the bride and groom and your relationship with them.

Do you have an upcoming bridal shower on your social schedule and are curious about how much you should budget for it? For complete information on the cost of a bridal shower present, continue reading.

The Average Cost of a Bridal Shower Gift

Bridal shower gift idea

It can be challenging to sort through the available bridal shower gift alternatives, but there are some pointers to help you.

Gifts for bridal showers are typically less expensive than those for weddings. The average spending range is $50 to $75, although close friends and relatives may spend as much as $100. You can choose how much money you wish to spend, though.

When deciding how much to spend on a gift, family members or close friends hosting the bridal shower should consider the amount of work they are putting into the celebration.

Although you don’t have to spend additional money, you could choose to pool your funds with the other hosts to buy one present. The cost of the shower is included in your gift, so you don’t need to spend more money on it.

But that doesn’t imply you never give a present.

The bridal party is also subject to this rule. Although they don’t need to spend more money, it might be a good idea for the bridesmaids to pool their funds in order to purchase one finer gift so they can have some money left for the bachelorette gifts.

What Is An Appropriate Bridal Shower Gift

bridal shower gift ideas

You can give something from the bride’s bridal registry, which was probably put up before the shower.

Smaller gifts like jewelry, a set of wine glasses, or a throw blanket are frequently chosen. However, larger items like appliances might also be a nice choice, particularly if it’s something the bride could use right away.

If nothing fits your budget or you want to purchase something particularly personal or meaningful for the bride, you might decide to shop outside the registry.

The only thing to keep in mind is that some products might not be suitable for all shower kinds. For instance, at a lingerie shower, provocative underwear or bedroom toys are acceptable, but perhaps not at a tea party shower with younger or more traditional relatives.

Showers don’t have to be only fun and games. Simply follow the theme and guest list (and perhaps keep the particularly racy material for the bachelorette party).

Is It Ok To Give A Group Bridal Shower Gift

Join forces with a group of pals if the only products remaining on the register are far out of your price range or you truly want to give the bride a costly item you know she’ll appreciate.

The couple will receive a thoughtful big-ticket present from the wedding party, and each person can typically get away with spending a little less separately. This is especially wise for bridesmaids who have already spent quite a bit of money on bridesmaid dresses, the bachelorette party, and the bridal shower.

Families that are still living together at home, couples, or visitors who are accompanied by a guest may as well offer gifts together.

Can You Give Cash Or A Gift Card As A Bridal Shower Gift

bridal gift card as bridal shower gift idea

Giving cash or a gift card in place of something material is always appropriate, but you should first determine whether the bride would like it.

Is there money on her wedding registry? If so, the simplest way to provide money is through her register by sending a monetary gift. Check to see if they already have any gift cards on their bridal wish list in a similar manner.

In this way, you may determine which retailers she would value gift cards for the most. You can get ideas from their register as well. If you notice she has registered many items from a specific store, then maybe get a gift card from that store.

You might also hear from friends and family that the couple prefers monetary gifts.

How To Choose Your Gift

We advise using the register to discover the ideal gift for the bride once you’ve decided on your gift budget.

The registry is the finest option because it is very focused on their demands, even though you could believe you can give the bride something more specific because you know her well.

Additionally, if you were a close family member, you may gift her the sentimental thing you want her to possess later on, such as a tiny piece of jewelry or an item of art.

Finding a gift that will be meaningful or useful to honor your friend’s or relative’s impending wedding is ultimately what’s most important. Anything you offer the bride-to-be would be greatly appreciated.

Gifts Of Service

While you have to give a gift, you don’t necessarily need to buy something.

You can include services you are willing to perform as your gift. Include these as a gift certificate for the bride to redeem, perhaps wrapped up in a box or in a basket with some useful items as a bridal box.

You can price them according to what these services go for in your community, but generally, you will try to aim for a $75 value rather than the low end.

For example, if you are a beauty professional, give gift certificates to do haircuts, styling, or nails. This will certainly be welcome in the days before and after the wedding.

You can offer to housesit, petsit, haircut and do her nails, take care of plants, or walk the dog while the couple is away on their honeymoon.

If you have organizational skills, give your services as the bride’s personal assistant during the week of the wedding, following up on important details.

Another thoughtful gift is to be the tour guide for out-of-town guests before or after the wedding. If the couple is moving, a certificate redeemable for help in packing, loading, unloading, and organizing is bound to be appreciated.

Homemade Gifts

Passing on a family heirloom or making up a photo collage or scrapbook can be a treasured shower gift.

Whatever you give, let it come from your heart. Don’t break your budget, but give something that will carry your best wishes to the couple.

Do You Have To Get A Bridal Shower Gift If You Can’t Attend

It’s never simple to express your apologies, so it’s a good idea to send a gift instead.

Even though it’s not required, giving the bride a gift will let them know that you’re still thrilled for her and looking forward to her wedding, even if you can’t make it to the shower.

Additionally, you’ll probably feel fairly good about it. Whether you decide to buy a gift or not, make sure to send the gushing bride a card or heartfelt handwritten note expressing how much you are looking forward to celebrating with them on their wedding day.
